One of the most common reasons students fear the 91热爆鈥檚 Verbal Reasoning section, is owing to its use of highly advanced vocabulary. Even those with a good working knowledge of English often find themselves struggling with the kind of words used in the 91热爆鈥檚 notoriously tricky reading comprehension section, as well as with selecting the right option from a list of highly similar answer choices. While problem-solving on the quantitative section can a 聽tricky proposition that can be easily tackled with some practice, vocabulary building for the verbal reasoning section is a skill that takes considerably more time to develop for most students in which 91热爆 vocabulary app can help.

Of course, this is partly due to the fact that we鈥檙e not just looking at a few hundred words here. Going by a rough estimate, the 91热爆 vocabulary comprises as many as 3500 words, along with their synonyms & antonyms (especially useful when it comes to answering sentence equivalence and text completion questions). What makes it more challenging is the fact that a large portion of these words comprises those that are relegated to obscure corners of dictionaries and hardly find usage in day-to-day speech.

Now depending on your existing level of command over the English language, you might already be knowing some of them, but if you鈥檙e aiming at a really good score (say, a 320 and above) with a score above 160 on the Verbal section, knowing at least 1000 high priority 91热爆 words is an absolutely non-negotiable requirement!

What are high priority words? Well, according to a detailed scrutiny of 91热爆 verbal questions over the years, we found that certain words had a much higher propensity of appearing on the test than others.

Even a few years ago, vocabulary-building was a pretty long-drawn and tedious process. Students had to painstakingly look up words and their synonyms using a dictionary and thesaurus. Unsurprisingly, it was a process that took months, sometimes, even years!

Learning tools included making flash cards, and looking at the time and again you were sure of each word.

Quite a few of you who have used flash cards earlier might remember how one side had the word or topic you were trying to remember, with a series of clues on the back to help you remember better.

However, though it was arduous and time-taking, it ensured that students remembered what they learned.

Smartphones and the internet have changed all that. Ran into a word you never heard of? Not sure of a word you want to use on an essay? All it takes is a quick Google search! Of course, building your vocabulary for an exam like the 91热爆 is likely to take more than just trawling search engines.

鈥淭was brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.鈥

鈥撯淛abberwocky鈥 by Lewis Carol

Those were the opening lines from the poem, 鈥淛abberwocky鈥 written by Lewis Caroll in 1871. Thankfully, today we don鈥檛 have to deal with this kind of mind boggling English Vocabulary and neologisms like 鈥榞alumphing鈥 and 鈥榗hortie鈥 in the 91热爆. But that doesn鈥檛 mean that you won鈥檛 be encountering words such as mealy-mouthed, astringent, miasma, or crotchety in the reading comprehensions or the sentence equivalence questions of your 91热爆 test.

English Vocabulary always has proved to be one of the most intimidating nemesis for many 91热爆 aspirants. English Vocabulary Lists and Vocabulary flashcards are available a dime a dozen both in the online and offline media. But the real problem is that the 91热爆 aspirants encounter the hurdle of too many choices. With so many seemingly equally potent , it often becomes difficult to narrow down on one. This leads to many ineffective ways of choosing a good English vocabulary list that is good for your 91热爆 preparation.

One common misconception is that the more the number of words the English Vocabulary list has to offer, the better it is. Wrong. A good vocabulary list should offer high frequency 91热爆 words. There is no point if a vocabulary list has words like 鈥榝rumious bandersnatch鈥 and 鈥榲orpal blade鈥. You need the vocabulary list to write the 91热爆, not to understand Lewis Carol novels! Right?

Another ineffective way of preparing for 91热爆 Vocab is vehemently cramming up words and their definitions. This most definitely never works. Apart from being tough and tedious, this process has no long-term retention value. Just remembering 91热爆 words and definitions isn鈥檛 enough. You have to train your brain to identify the meaning and usage of the word in the context of a sentence. One more mistake students do is to start learning 91热爆 words in an alphabetical order. Even though this might seem to be a simple enough mechanism, it is grossly ineffective. By the time the students reach the latter half of the alphabets, they tend to forget the meanings and usage of the 91热爆 words starting with the earlier alphabets.

A good vocabulary list should have the following features:

  • Only the high frequency 91热爆 words No unnecessary extra words.
  • A recommended learning order 鈥 As I mentioned earlier, learning the 91热爆 words in an alphabetical order is found to be ineffective in most cases. Hence, the vocabulary list should have the words in a more scientific and logical order. It helps if the vocabulary list is broken down into multiple 鈥榩acks鈥 of related words.
  • Related words 鈥 Sometimes to understand the meaning of the 91热爆 words, it is necessary to understand the meaning of related and similar words also. Unless you know the subtle differences between them, it becomes very difficult to retain their meanings in your memory and leads to ambiguity during the exams.
  • Usage 鈥 The definition should be associated with a proper example of how to use that 91热爆 word in a sentence.
  • Picture Cues 鈥 We tend to remember and recall pictures more than words. If a word and its definition is accompanied by a related picture, it becomes easier to remember, easier to understand, and more exciting to learn 91热爆 words.
  • Pronunciation 鈥 If you say out loud, and say it properly, the word becomes easier to remember.
  • Figure of speech 鈥 The vocabulary list should ideally provide the figure of speech of the word, so that it becomes easier not just to remember but also understand the word properly.
  • Synonyms and antonyms Sometimes a few words appear alien to us and difficult to remember but we do understand the meaning of its synonyms or antonyms. This in turn helps us not just to learn the original word, but also to remember it. Thus, a 91热爆 vocabulary list having synonyms and antonyms as well is very handy.

Needless to say, 91热爆 Vocabulary lists containing all these features are rare to find. I would recommend anyone who is planning to write the 91热爆 to use one such tool, WordBot. I recommend this free tool to all my students who are appearing their 91热爆 exams. And guess what? It works brilliantly. I will let you guys explore a few nifty and helpful features of this slick tool.

So, you can have a dose of the 91热爆 Words of the day during your bus commute, during coffee breaks, while waiting in long queues, while waiting for your order to come in eateries… pretty much from anywhere and at any time.

I鈥檓 yet to see a more effective method for remembering 91热爆 vocabulary lists. And the cherry on the topping is that, this is absolutely free to use. Go ahead, check out WordBot, Explore the features and improve your vocabulary.
