When you talk about Trump’s impact on your H1B visa, most students generally worry about the availability of jobs, particularly if the minimum salaries are raised as high as $130,000!

But, it’s important to look at the actual parameters of the new H1B bill before听panicking.

According to the new H1B bill, introduced by Democrat Zoe Lofgren, ONLY H1B dependent employers (companies whose workforce in the US consists of over 15% H1B visa holders) are liable to pay a minimum of $130,000 to it’s employees on a H1B visa.

To read more on the new H1B visa, check Part 1 of the blog. Read now!

A quick search on Google reveals that only two companies may fit the criteria for a H1B dependent employer i.e.

And, as an MS/PhD aspirant, are you aiming for a job at any of these companies?

Not really.

Besides, in my opinion, raising the salary indiscriminately without any regard to the job sector, median wages, growth, return of investment etc. While it is possible that the minimum salary might be raised from the current standard of $60,000, it is highly unlikely that the salaries will go up by more than 50% overnight.

Availability of Jobs

Now, another aspect to this argument is the current availability of jobs, irrespective of a salary increase.

From an economic point of view, the Trump administration is targeting an economic growth of 3.5-4% for the next fiscal year. Historically speaking, the engine of any economy is the continuous investment and relentless research in science & technology. The United States of America has earned its superior position as a superpower and economy over the years by prioritizing scientific research and development.

Therefore, there is no doubt that it will continue to do so, especially if the US wants to maintain its current position.

According to the USNEWS/Raytheon STEM Index, in the American market and the numbers have only gone up.

But can you guess the number of STEM graduates produced every year?

 • No. of Indian STEM graduates every year – 2.6 million (2015)
 • No. of Chinese STEM graduates every year – 4.7 million (2015)

Therefore, there is a huge STEM crisis within the US, which overseas students can fulfill, provided they are allowed to utilize the strong skills they earn through a US education.

Editor & Chief Content Officer for USNEWS, Brian Kelly said:

“While our universities are producing more STEM graduates, many of these students are foreigners on temporary visas. Despite significant public and private investment, we are still not developing an American STEM workforce to fill the jobs of the future. It’s clear that we need to focus our efforts on getting more kids, particularly women and African-Americans, interested in pursuing STEM at a young age.”

If you’re looking for more clarity on your particular fields, take a look at this dynamic comprehensive report compiled by USNEWS in support with Raytheon, called the

Additionally, according to NAFSA, the US receives close to to the US economy.听Currently, about 43% of Master’s degrees and 57% of Doctoral degrees out of total graduate degrees awarded for STEM go to international students.

They also create or support approximately 400,000 jobs.

Based on my analysis, any drastic decision will result in cold feet among students and therefore, lead to a significant loss of skilled professionals to competing countries such as Canada, Germany and Australia. From Trump’s point of view, this isn’t the best deal for him or his country.

However, it is very important to have the right expectations before flying off to the US.

How easy is it to get a job in the US?

Landing a job in the US is relatively harder than it is in India. Without dedicated campus placements or recruitment drives from top companies, finding a job and keeping it depends on your ability to communicate clearly, make connections with industry professionals as well as sharpen your technical skills. Most students try to convert internships or part time opportunities into full time jobs through hard work, enthusiasm and obvious display of skill.

But this is the case in any country outside India.

Take UK for example. International student numbers have been dwindling steadily due to tighter visa restrictions and immense difficulty in finding STEM jobs for students with advanced degrees, not to mention the massive cost of education.

But what about immigrant friendly countries like Canada or Australia. You will find that keeping a job is harder than finding one, that is, if you aren’t picky about the kind of job you get.

This is primarily because every nation prioritizes its citizens first before considering immigrants even if they are talented or most suitable for the job.

But if you’re aiming for a foreign education, a better lifestyle and faster career growth, then you must be prepared to work hard, equip yourself and be determined to find a job.

To sum up my analysis, I believe that while it may be relatively harder to find a job in the US than it is in India, it may not be any additionally harder because of Trump鈥檚 presidency, if you鈥檙e graduating from a good American university.

In fact, the chances are most likely in your favor. So, brush off your fears and tackle all these uncertainties by ensuring you get into a top university. Aim high, achieve a high 91热爆 score and secure your future.

Donald J Trump, the 45th president of the United States, has held office for about 2 weeks now and already the World can鈥檛 seem to ignore his presence.

What is his impact on you, the MS/PhD aspirant?

91热爆 ( …formerly 91热爆edge) seeks to put unnecessary conjecture and speculation to rest and provide an unbiased viewpoint on some of the major issues concerning you, including university admission chances, 91热爆 scores required, H1B visas, job opportunities after graduation, OPT period and the whole 91热爆 + MS + US deal!

After the new H1B bill, how difficult will it be to get a H1B visa?

It is expected that if the new H1B bill (introduced by Democrat & US Representative for Silicon Valley, Zoe Lofgren) is passed, it will become easier for MS/PhD graduates to get a H1B visa. Simultaneously, it will be more difficult, if not impossible, for employees of IT companies that outsource jobs such as TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, Accenture etc to gain a H1B visa.

Before we actually discuss the salient features of the new H1B bill, it is important to quickly understand why the H1B visa program was introduced in the first place.

History & Significance of H1B

The H1B visa program was originally intended to help companies acquire people with highly specialized knowledge temporarily for specialty occupations such as those in the fields of chemistry, biotechnology, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences etc.

To this end, the current H1B Visa Program states that:

 1. All employees on a H1B visa must be paid a minimum salary of $60,000 per annum.
 2. All companies looking to hire employees on a H1B visa have to submit a legal application citing that they could not find an American worker听for the same position.
 3. All companies can contest for a maximum of 65,000 H1B visas along with a special allocation of 20,000 visas for foreigners with a Master’s degree.
 4. H1B visas are allocated randomly using a computer based lottery system, wherein the applicants with a Master’s degree from US universities are prioritized first. Once the quota is filled up, the remaining members go back into the pool along with the other applicants to compete for the remaining听65,000 visas.

However, over the years, many IT companies have started using the H1B visa to bring in people from India, China, Taiwan and Korea to do regular jobs, which do not require very high levels of skill or knowledge. In fact, according to the official website of the U.S Citizenship & Immigration (USCIS), the . This means that people with a basic degree are being taken into the US using a powerful visa program such as the H1B, which also allows applicants with the intent of obtaining a US citizenship, should they wish to.

Initially, in the 90s, when Information Technology was just starting to become important, providing IT support was difficult, complex and required people with advanced knowledge to rectify errors, if any.

In countries like India & China, education is the cornerstone of development and among all fields of education, engineering is treated with great respect, thereby producing lakhs of skilled, educated engineers every year. Naturally, since demand was high and supply was in plenty in these countries, large amount of immigration took place using the H1B visa in the 90s. It was also aided by the fact that the current H1B VISA program as we know it was put in place by George.W.Bush in 1990.

H1B Visa: Current Scenario in 2017

However, 27 years later, in this day and age, the reasons for which engineers are picked up from India & China are entirely different. They are taken up as low-end software developers, computer programmers, analysts etc and paid to do the job at just the minimum wage described, thereby making it cheaper for top IT companies to hire & fire.

A quick survey indicates that out of the Top 5 H1B sponsors for 2016, namely, Infosys, TCS, IBM, Wipro and Accenture, . In stark comparison, top product companies such as Oracle, Google, Microsoft etc pay their employees much higher salaries i.e. upwards of $90,000 per annum.

Another irritant is that the many of these IT companies flood the system with an overwhelming number of applications. Since the H1B is granted randomly to applicants using a computer-based lottery, the chances of getting a H1B visa for its employees is higher owing to the sheer number of applications in the system.

For example, That is half the number of H1B visas available for an entire year!

As a businessman himself, Trump has admitted to using these loopholes to cut down hiring costs. Therefore, his aim is simple – to reinstate the original purpose of the H1B visa and provide it to those who are worthy of it – i.e. those who have highly specialized knowledge in particular fields.

Impact on you as a MS/PhD Aspirant?

As an MS aspirant, this is good news for those looking at future career opportunities because with stringent hiring rules for outsourcing companies, which currently gobbles up approximately 20-30% of the allocated quota, more number of H1B visas will be available to students pursuing a higher education in the US. Especially since there is no talk of cutting down on the existing number of H1B visas available to students.

Coming to the actual points specified in the new H1B bill, the High-Skilled Integrity and Fairness Act of 2017 听raises the following points:

 1. All H1B dependent employers (companies who have more than 50 employees and whose workforce in the US is made up of over 15% of H1B visa holders) are liable to pay a minimum of $130,000 per annum to all of its employees on a H1B visa. Out of the top H1B Visa sponsors,听from our research, .听
 2. Eliminates H1B dependent employers听from accessing the additional 20,000 H1B visas available to those with a Master鈥檚 degree from US universities. This means that other companies can still contest for the 20,000 H1B visas for students with advanced degrees. This听is actually good听news for students pursuing MS/PhD because better companies like Oracle, Google, Facebook, Qualcomm can now access top talent for relevant jobs.
 3. Eliminates any 鈥榗ountry-based鈥 allocation of H1B visas as available previously to Chile & Singapore.
 4. Makes provisions for a smooth transition between F1 visa & H1B visa to establish 鈥渄ual intent鈥 i.e F1 visas will not be denied solely on the basis of students鈥 intentions to immigrate to the US. (The current regulations requires students to firmly establish their intention to return to the home country)

From the data published so far, our analysis indicates that this move will be extremely profitable to students who are passionate about their fields, aim at becoming specialists and have a dream towards making a successful career with that knowledge!

Move steadfast in your mission towards a better score, buddy! And, we at 91热爆 ( … formerly 91热爆edge), stand by you!

One of them is known for snow-capped mountains, its love for ice hockey and everybody鈥檚 favorite Prime Minister. The other is renowned for its booming job market, high standards of living, and its thriving multicultural atmosphere. We are, of course, talking about Canada and the USA. Both are vastly different countries, but with several similarities; one of which is the unsurpassable quality of secondary education.

Since the Internet boom in the 1980s, the US has been the ultimate study abroad destination for aspiring students. A combination of factors like cutting-edge infrastructures, R&D opportunities, and better employability has firmly cemented the US鈥檚 position as the first choice for a vast number of students wishing for quality education. However, in recent times, Canada, US鈥檚 friendly neighbor, has emerged as a competition to the US as an excellent alternative, with high-quality education that doesn鈥檛 pinch your pockets.

So, here is the big question- should you apply to both the US and Canada for your postgraduate studies? Or should you simply stick to one?

This is a question that leaves many students scratching their heads, so let us try and get some clarity on it.

What parameters should I consider?

Besides top-notch education and excellent faculty, there are several other parameters you should take into account while considering your postgraduate options. Remember: this is the place where you will spend two years of your life, so it is equally important to consider other factors such as the cost of living, public safety, employment opportunities, weather, student-friendliness听etc.

Quality of Education

First and foremost, of course, is the quality of education offered by American and Canadian universities. This factor is paramount to your decision-making process- after all, it is a decision that will affect your life and career.

While it is true that the US has a monopoly in the education market, Canada is not lagging behind. With several top universities like the University of Toronto and the University of Ottawa, Canada is slowly but surely catching up with the US. In terms of course structures, both the countries are very similar. Universities in both the US and Canada offer research-oriented (thesis-based) and teaching-oriented (non-thesis based) Masters programmes. Depending on your academic aspirations, you can choose either – normally, students wishing to embark on a Ph.D. opt for the research-oriented Masters. In both the countries, students pursuing their MS are required to complete 36 credit hours in order to graduate. 听In terms of the quality of education offered, there is little difference between the two.

Top 5 universities in the US & Canada – World Rankings

Table for us vs canada

Education in Canada is much cheaper than in the US, thanks to several laws and policies put in place to make education affordable and accessible to all. Private universities in both the US and Canada are generally more expensive since they are not regulated by the government. However, state universities in both the countries are much more affordable – exact fees differ from school to school.

Tuition and scholarships

For example, for a Master鈥檚 degree at University of Toronto, the average tuition fees per year for 2017-2018 is $25,813 per annum (approx. 13 lakhs).

To find out about affordable universities in the US, read here.

Owing to a burgeoning number of international applicants, several universities in the US and Canada offer generous scholarships and grants to considerably reduce the financial burden on the students: these scholarships range from partial fee-waiver to full rider. In some universities where the focus is on a particular discipline, students who are applying to study that discipline are given scholarships.

For instance, in the University of Ottawa, researchers are working to create the world鈥檚 largest center for the study of photonics and optics, for which the University receives a huge amount of funding from alumni and philanthropists. Therefore, students who wish to study photonics are given full fee-waivers and living allowances in order to make scientific advancements in the field. Such discipline-specific scholarships are more widely available in Canada than in the US.

Social welfare

The taxes you pay in Canada are considerably higher compared to the US, but your tax money is judiciously spent by the government to ensure your social welfare.

For instance, one of Canada鈥檚 biggest assets is its universal healthcare schemes, which makes high quality healthcare extremely affordable to all its citizens.

Additionally, when you file your tax returns on time, a portion of your taxes is refunded to you. Social welfare in the US peaked under the Obama administration, with the advent of ObamaCare.听

Living conditions and expenses

The biggest deterrent to students wishing to apply to Canada is the weather. Temperatures can dip as low as -25掳C in winters, with heavy snowfall and storms forcing you to stay indoors for days on end. By comparison, the US offers more variety- states like California and Florida are perennially warm and dry, with the occasional spell of rain.

The US also boasts of a large Indian diaspora, which is often an important factor for many Indian students who start to feel homesick in a few months. The Indian community in Canada is comparatively smaller, but not nonexistent.

When it comes to living expenses like rent and utilities, Canada is leaps and bounds ahead, with lower rents and transportation costs. Cities like Toronto and Montreal are extremely student-friendly, with student discounts available almost everywhere- from restaurants to clothing stores and movie theatres. Additionally, Canada is much safer, and has lower crime rates and stringent gun laws.

Did you know that according to the figures from University of Alberta, the average living costs for an international student is $16,800 (Canadian Dollars) for an entire year?

Jobs and career opportunities

Of course, the US has a massive job market, but in recent years, recession and unemployment rates have soared, making it difficult to secure a job. Canada too has faced these problems, but on a relatively smaller scale.

The biggest difference between Canada and the US in terms of employment is that it is much easier to pursue part-time jobs in Canada. In the US, if you wish to work while studying, you will have to obtain an OPT (Optional Practical Training), but the job you undertake must be related to your field. In Canada, however, you are allowed to undertake almost any job, since your study permit doubles up as a work permit too.

After graduating, the average salary for an MS student in the US is about USD 69,000 (Rs 49 lakhs approx) per annum, while in Canada it is lower at CAD 70,000 (Rs 35 lakhs approx) per annum. Job prospects in the US are much better, however, the lack of proper job security, especially at fresher level makes one think twice about spending all that money on tuition fees.

Immigration options

It is much easier for students to get a study visa to Canada than to the US. For students desirous of living and working in the country after they graduate, Canada offers seamless immigration options that make it easy for you to obtain a Canadian citizenship. In the US, by comparison, applying and obtaining a green card can be a long, arduous process.

In sum, we highly recommend that you apply to a combination of both American and Canadian universities in order to maximize your chances of admissions. Barring a few minor differences, both the countries are almost the same in the educational sphere. The US and Canada are leaders in providing high-quality education and job opportunities and thus make for an excellent study abroad destination.

Like the old adage that says, 鈥Don鈥檛 put all your eggs in one basket鈥

Similarly, it is smart as well as practical to not bank your MS dreams on one university or one destination alone. Increase your chances of an admit by exploring cost-effective options worldwide.

Learn how to correctly evaluate your profile to boost your acceptance rates by targeting universities looking for profiles just like yours!

Good Luck!

The post Can I give 91热爆 for MBA? appeared first on 91热爆 Blog.

]]>
Till very recently, postgraduate aspirants wishing to go to the US were required to take one of the two tests available: the GMAT, for admissions to business schools, or the 91热爆, for most other programs.听In 2006, in a landmark movement that revolutionized higher education in the US, several business schools, including the University of California, Berkeley鈥檚 Haas School of Business, and University of Pennsylvania鈥檚 Wharton School of Business started accepting 91热爆 for MBA courses.

Nikhil Varaiya, director of graduate studies at the San Diego State University, lauds the decisions of B-Schools who accept the 91热爆 score. He says, 鈥淲ith more and more employers saying, 鈥榃e want students from diverse backgrounds, it was sort of difficult to argue that the GMAT was the only measure to use.鈥

Today, more than 1200 schools worldwide ( here)听are happy to consider applicants with a 91热爆 score for their MBA programs. Not only is it advantageous for students, but also for universities, since accepting 91热爆 score holders means the applicant pool is much bigger and more diverse and gives them more choice. The 91热爆 has thus become more versatile over the years, and it is expected that in five years or so, almost all business schools in the US will accept the 91热爆 for admissions. As an added advantage, taking the 91热爆, which costs $205 is also considerably more cost-effective as compared to the GMAT ($250)

GMAT vs. the 91热爆 – What鈥檚 the difference?

Apart from the fact that the GMAT was until recently the go-to test for B-School admissions while the 91热爆 was regarded as the aptitude test of choice for MS aspirants, the two are quite similar indeed. The primary difference between 91热爆 and GMAT is that the

91热爆 comprises 3 sections:

 • The Analytical Writing Assessment Task with 2 essays to complete
 • Verbal Reasoning and
 • Quantitative Reasoning

whereas the GMAT comprises 4:

 • Analytical Writing Assessment (1 essay)
 • Integrated Reasoning
 • Quantitative and Verbal

The 91热爆 and GMAT are scored between 260-340 and 200-800 respectively, with the total scores in both cases including the sum of only the Verbal and Quantitative section scores. The Analytical Writing Section on both the 91热爆 and GMAT are scored separately on a scale of 0-6 with 0.5 point increments. The Integrated Reasoning section, too, is scored separately on the GMAT on a scale of 1-8

Both scores are valid for a period of 5 years from the date of taking the test.

The general consensus is that the quantitative questions on the GMAT are of a significantly higher level as compared to that of the 91热爆. Though both exams test your concepts of similar topics such as data interpretation, algebra, and arithmetic, the GMAT has more challenging questions requiring a higher degree of analysis and critical thinking. Moreover, the format of these questions can be unusual and not what most students are used to.

91热爆 quantitative questions are usually either straightforward single or multiple-choice questions, in a format that most students likely have a lot of experience with.

Who should choose to write the 91热爆?

Since there is no preference between those who apply with a 91热爆 or a GMAT score, the choice is entirely dependent on one thing:

WHICH TEST GIVES ME THE BEST SCORE?

These are some of the instances when taking the 91热爆 makes more sense:

 • If you are confused between an MS and an MBA, and want to keep your options open.
 • If you feel that you possess a logical thought process and reasoning ability.
 • If you feel Mathematics, like Data Analysis, is too difficult
 • If you have a better grasp of Vocabulary than Grammar

How does the 91热爆 for B-school admissions work out?

It is actually quite simple. When you send your 91热爆 score for application for an MBA or other management programs, the admissions committee uses an ETS-approved conversion tool to convert your 91热爆 score into the appropriate GMAT score. Following this, your application will be processed normally.

91热爆 to GMAT Conversion

While we all know that a 320+ or 750+ is considered a great score on the 91热爆 and GMAT respectively, how do you convert your 91热爆 score to its equivalent GMAT score and vice-versa? 听Here鈥檚 a handy little formula to help you out!

Total GMAT score =听听鈥 2080.75 + (6.38 * 91热爆 Verbal Score) + (10.62 * 91热爆 Quantitative Score)

Note that though it鈥檚 not absolutely accurate, as there are certain approximations involved, it鈥檚 as close as it gets!

Alternatively, you could also save yourself the effort of performing complicated calculations and refer to the tables below:

91热爆 for MBA - 91热爆 to GMAT Score Conversion Chart

91热爆 for MBA - 91热爆 to GMAT Score Conversion Chart 2

Thus if you鈥檙e planning to take the 91热爆 for MBA programs, and you know the GMAT scores they generally require, you can now find out the equivalent 91热爆 score you need to target.

So, should I submit my 91热爆 score while applying for an MBA program?

The simple answer is that it entirely depends on your skill set.

From the admissions point of view, there is no preference between those who apply with a 91热爆 score and those who apply with a GMAT score. In fact, the percentage of applicants applying with a 91热爆 score is higher with each passing year.

For example, Yale School of Management, ranked #8, had 23% of MBA applicants applying with 91热爆 scores from 18% compared to the previous year.

Having said that, let us now take a look at the top ten business schools in the world and the minimum 91热爆 scores they require if any:

Universities which accept 91热爆 for MBA

The most prominent feature of this table, as you may have noticed, is that most of these schools do not actually have a minimum score requirement. This is generally because top business schools decline to report a minimum 91热爆 score requirement. According to Poets & Quants, this could be because these universities want to keep the option of accepting students even with lower 91热爆 scores and not lose their premium ranking in the USNEWS list.

So, currently, whether you have a 305 or a perfect 340, your application will be judged the same. Of course, a couple of schools do have a percentile requirement, but this is only an indicative score, to give you an idea of what the academic standards in these schools are like.

So, what are your options?

 • If you have already taken GMAT and are unhappy with the scores, you can try taking a 91热爆 diagnostic test to see how you fare. Remember, the 91热爆 is not necessarily easier, it鈥檚 different.听 As an engineering student, your hold over the 91热爆 Quant section is bound to be better. However, you may need to work on your Verbal skills a bit before you become fully 91热爆 ready. Both for students considering an MS in say, Business Analytics or Finance, or an MBA 91热爆 scores are likely to keep gaining in acceptance and popularity, with more students and universities opting for the ETS administered test of aptitude over the GMAT.

Try91热爆 diagnostic test听Now!

 • If you have your sights set on a particular school and are keen to know where your 91热爆 score and GPA stand with respect to other applicants, you have the option of comparing your target 91热爆 score against the GMAT score using the ETS comparison tool.
 • Alternatively, you can also take a look at the class profile of the current batch of the program you are applying to, which will give you a glimpse at the average 91热爆/GMAT scores obtained by successful applicants.

91热爆 Admission Tip:听Another important thing to note is that, in addition to a 91热爆 or GMAT score, several B-schools require you to have 2-5 years of prior work experience too. Since an MBA is a hands-on course, students with professional experience tend to have an edge over those who have little to none.

I hope that you now have a better understanding of what each test entails, their similarities and differences, and on whether you ought to be taking the GMAT or 91热爆 for MBA programs. If you have any more questions you鈥檇 like to ask us about the universities that accept the 91热爆 for their MBA program, the finer differences between the two and the overall admissions process, feel free to ask us in the comments below! We鈥檒l get back to you with the answers you鈥檙e looking for, at the earliest!

Fast forward 10 years down the lane, when you are settled on the West Coast with a prestigious job, an attractive spouse,听and an enviable bank balance! [Yes yes, you also have an accent!]

That’s really the dream.

However, the transformation from Desi to NRI starts much before all that!

Here’s a list of 7 situations that you will encounter in your journey from India to Amreeka!

The incessant nagging from the grumpy bus conductor for your bus ticket is just white noise now. Why would you worry about him when you could be lost in the fantasy of travelling abroad in the company of a cheerful, friendly air hostess?

MS in USA - Cooking Experiments

I miss being a student!

If you are a working professional, you have probably thought this at least a few times. Especially when you see your juniors posting Instagram photos of their latest adventure in town. Or you see a Snapchat Story of a friend who is studying abroad, participating in the 4th of July firework show.

If you are a student, then you probably don鈥檛 realize how much you are going to miss being one.

In the race to be part of the next phase in life, many of us don’t consider what we may be giving up in order to join the working class of the society.

Is the satisfaction of receiving a paycheck truly worth it if you don鈥檛 love your job?

Even if you love your job, is it enough to just think about today and worry about tomorrow when it comes?

Speaking of tomorrow, companies like TCS, Wipro and Infosys have hinted at an overall decrease in employment. I鈥檓 talking particularly about the IT industry because it is currently the largest recruiter of engineers in India. This will have a net effect of a massive 24% decrease.

However, these companies are still strongly projecting growth for the next financial year in terms of profits and revenue.

How can this happen?

The focus has shifted from recruiting new people to optimizing existing technology and resources. This means if you are at the lower rungs of the company, you may have to consider looking at climbing up the organizational ladder.

Even if you are just stepping out of the comforts of college, there is a decline in the rate at which freshers are hired.

The IT giants that come to your campus to swoop down and grab a large chunk of students are slowly realizing that it is more expensive to recruit people, train them and THEN derive work out of them.

Automating the entire process is easier and cost-effective.

So, how do you remain competitive and relevant to your industry many years down the line?

Career counseling experts agree that the way to grow in your career is to invest your time and energy in听increasing competency and skills.

High-skilled jobs which require additional skills such as critical thinking, analysis and judgment are expected to within the next 5 years.

Learn how to build a good profile.

Whilst relevant experience is highly valued amongst recruiters, it is also important to understand that specialized knowledge cannot be overlooked. A Master鈥檚 degree will help you gain specific skills such as developing a creative outlook, reflective thinking, leadership traits etc.

While most jobs don鈥檛 require you to have a Master鈥檚 degree, having one could be the difference between doing your job and doing your job WELL. With companies looking to increase their revenues quickly, productivity and performance cannot be stressed enough.

If you are a student or a working professional, ideally NOW would be the right time to take the plunge to do higher studies.

I know what you are thinking.

鈥淚 want to earn more before I go back to college鈥

鈥淚 am happy where I am鈥

鈥淚t鈥檚 too expensive鈥

Let me address your concerns by listing out the advantages in pursuing a Master鈥檚 degree.

You can become a specialist in your field:

There is a demand for experts who can supervise and optimize processes within organizations, especially because companies restructuring the organization to automate a lot of routine activities.

When you have a Master鈥檚 degree in a specific field, you are valued over other candidates who have little or vague knowledge about the field they are entering. You are entrusted with more responsibility. This means that you are likely to end up in a higher position that pays also better.

You can rejuvenate a stagnant career:

If you feel uninspired in your current job and are looking to switch industries, this is the perfect move!

A Master鈥檚 degree will enable you to enter a better position at a new organization. You can still make use of the skills acquired from your previous job such as project management, problem-solving, communication etc.

If you are a mid-level professional, a Master鈥檚 degree can be the turning point in your career, especially if you feel like you are not growing in your current job.

You will earn more, for sure:

Employees with a Master鈥檚 degree have than those who only have bachelor鈥檚 degrees. This is especially true for fields such as marketing, finance etc.

With more savings, you can have a better lifestyle and a more secure future than you can imagine now.

You are fresher now than you will be 2 years later:

Learning new ideas and concepts requires a fresh mind. Getting back into the student鈥檚 mindset, especially after working 10 hours a day in a professional setting, requires some adjustment. As you grow older, this adjustment becomes harder and the ability to learn reduces significantly.

Better now than never!

You will experience new cultures:

When you go abroad to study for Master鈥檚, you will not be treated as a student but as a peer doing research. This kind of dynamic helps you stay confident. It enables you to face a working atmosphere as a professional rather than a graduate or intern.

This is especially helpful if you are nervous about starting work right after undergraduate studies.

You can get scholarships and funding for your Master鈥檚 degree:

If you are bound by financial constraints, don鈥檛 worry. It is easier to get scholarships and financial assistance from many top universities through Teaching Assistantships and Research Assistantships. Different scholarships have different requirements such as merit, leadership, volunteer work and so on.

So, there you go.
A Master鈥檚 degree can unlock the door to a secure life and a fulfilling career.
Give yourself the best possible opportunity today!
