Introduction to 91热爆

Ultimate Guide for 91热爆 Preparation

Download the eBook now!

Hi, you are targeting the Fall intake, but are confused as to when should you start your 91热爆 Preparation. Your seniors would tell you that it takes roughly 3-6 months to prepare for the 91热爆, whereas your friends or colleagues will tell you that it can be tackled in just a month’s time. So the question is whom should you listen to? Well, rest assured, you are in the right place. The Internet has been like this for a few years now. You start with your browser in search of answers but end up with more questions than before. It does not have to be like that.

Let us put your swirling doubts and thoughts to rest.

91热爆 Exam in itself is like a journey. A journey that takes you to the specific University of your dreams. It is a difficult journey since it has no direct buses or trains to take you from the starting point to the ending point.

When to give 91热爆 if you are targeting fall semester?

There are but connecting buses where you get down from one and ride another to reach your destination.

 1. But will you be able to reach your destination if you don’t know the bus timings?
 2. If you don’t know how much time each bus journey takes, will you be able to plan the successive journey?
 3. If due to traffic your bus takes more time than it should, will it not risk your chances of catching the next bus?

Without meticulous planning, it might get very difficult to catch all the buses, at the right time.

YOUR, DESTINATION?

Why get on a bus if you don’t know where you want to get down.

Is your target fall intake? Then let’s start by understanding what Fall is about?

For major courses and universities abroad, admission intakes happen twice a year. This happens to regulate the number of students that join a specific university at a given period of time. Your targeted Fall semester is the start of the academic year in the US.

Targeting Fall Semester starts from late August (or early September) and the deadlines span till March & mid April.

But why is it that if you target fall intake, the chances are better?

 • What universities to target in Fall?

Top universities like MIT, Stanford & Harvard only have fall intakes. Starting your 91热爆 Prep is the first step towards securing top admits. The topmost colleges in the US for that matter don’t have any other intake other than fall intake. Hence, if you are aiming at these universities then you must target fall.

 • How many admissions if you target Fall?

Universities have a specific quota for accepting students who target fall intake. It is much higher in the Fall semester. The more the number of intakes the better the chances to secure an admit. MIT accepted 3,516 graduates for MS courses in Fall 2018. Therefore, for a better acceptance rate, you can target fall.

 • Which courses are offered?

There are more courses offered in the fall semester. Also, most of the courses are the prerequisites to the courses offered in the other semesters. For example, if you want to join the advanced mechanics class next semester you will need to join the basic mechanics class in the fall semester. So if you are looking for a varied range of courses, you can target fall.

 • Teaching/Research Assistantships (TAs, RAs)

All universities give MS students the opportunity to support themselves financially by providing in-campus jobs like assistantships. The chances of securing assistantships are significantly higher in the fall semester. Because the assistantships that were offered to senior students pass out and the vacancies reopen, ripe for the taking. Chances of earning these assistantships are higher if you target fall.

 • What are the Internship/Job offers?

Internships and job opportunities are also higher for students who apply in the fall semester. This is because they have completed more semesters before placements which come up at the end of the second year. Therefore, there are more opportunities if you target fall.

Now that we know about the Fall semester, we can start planning about your journey.

YOUR JOURNEY STARTS

This journey will have the following steps:

 1. Taking your 91热爆 at the right time.
 2. Collecting documents required for applications.
 3. Submission before the deadline.

Deadline is the final bus you need to catch. What is the timing for this bus?

Let us find out.

APPLICATION DEADLINES

Bus 3: Leaves by December鈥

Applications start coming out late August to Mid September. The exact date changes year to year. Also, there are regular admissions and priority deadlines.

Priority deadlines have a higher chance of acquiring both admissions and scholarships. Many state and public universities use priority deadlines to encourage early applications. But submitting priority application requires you to finish your application early. For example, The University of Maryland has a November 1 Priority Deadline.

The Application deadlines for the major Universities are as follows for the month of December. You can download an updated list of universities using this link

(Note these data are subjected to change every year):

Deadline Dates for Engineering Universities in the US along with their requirements.

The data makes it clear that you have to finish up with the applications latest by December. But if at all you have missed the December deadlines, there deadlines available in Jan-Feb.

But what are the things you need for successfully completing your application?

DOCUMENTATION FOR APPLICATIONS

Bus 2: Leaves by November鈥

There are a few documents that you need before you fill in your application.

1. SOP (Statement of Purpose)

Statement of Purpose is an essay written as part of your application package to universities abroad. A well-written SOP must be a description of who you are as a person as well as your academic and extra-curricular profile, providing a detailed glimpse into your past achievements, skills, aspirations, and goals for the future. A good SOP should leave a mark and make it unique from the ten thousand SOPs that the college receives.

Without a perfect draft for your SOP securing admissions can be an impossible job. Devoting the maximum possible time on your SOP is advised.

2. LORs (Letter of recommendation)

Letter of Recommendation is an independent appraisal of your character and competency by teachers or managers who have known you personally. To put it succinctly, a LOR is essentially a review of your potential, academic talent and dedication to your discipline, and as such, is key to making your study abroad dreams a reality.

3. Academic transcripts

Academic transcripts are basically your consolidated mark sheets and all educational qualification proof that you will be attaching with your application.

Along with these three documents, there are additional documents like CV, essays, attested copies and proofs that a specific university can ask for.

You also need to be prepared with your IELTS/TOEFL scores. These are mandatory tests for applicants who hail from a non-English speaking country to test their English proficiency. Some universities like Caltech can also test the applicant鈥檚 English speaking proficiency personally once they join the college.

Apart from that, you would obviously need your 91热爆 scores.

BIG TRAFFIC CONGESTION!

Maximum time is taken in the documentation.

Now thousand, rather more than a thousand of SOPs are sent everyday to most of the colleges during the application process. What makes your SOP stand out? How much time does it take to draft that perfect SOP that leaves a mark? Similarly for LORs. How much time till you get that perfect LOR from your busy professors or managers? Surely they will have a lot more things to do apart from your LOR.

It is advised to allocate 1-2 months for collecting and consolidating all these documents. These documents have a heavy influence on your future and prospective admits. Also since LORs are not up to you, it can take a lot of time to acquire them from busy individuals like your professors and managers. Transcripts can also take a lot of time to come out. Hence it’s prudent to leave the maximum possible time to this process and take your 91热爆 exam accordingly.

TAKING 91热爆 EXAM

You need to catch the first bus i.e. take your 91热爆 so that you do not miss the Fall deadlines,.

By looking at the other bus timings we can conclude that taking the 91热爆 at around September to October is preferable.

But what if by some chance you miss the Bus 1?

Also if you target fall priority deadlines then obviously you need to scale up your preparations and try to be as fast as possible in all cases. Priority deadlines get over by October-November. Keeping two months for documentation you would require to take your 91热爆 by July-August.

Preparing for the journey

Fall Intake is considered to be an important intake because of various reasons and hence it is the most preferred for 91热爆 Aspirants.

91热爆 preparation and University shortlisting.

Like any journey, lack of proper preparation can land you into a lot of trouble.

A lot of emphasis should be given on the planning stage.

Along with the preparation, you must also complete your university shortlisting. ETS (the organization that conducts the 91热爆 exam) allows you to send your scores to four universities for free. Once you send your score to four universities an additional fee of $27 has to be paid to send the scores to other universities.

Select these four universities by deciding:

 • What courses you want to target.

Not all universities have all the courses. Similarly, some universities are the best in providing maximum learning opportunities and research facilities for a certain course.

E.g. MIT is the best university for Chemical Engineering courses but Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is best for Computer Science courses. University of California–Berkeley provides the best Civil Engineering courses. (Data according to the recent survey by USNews.com)

 • What are the expectations of your preferred university?

As mentioned in the earlier segment of the blog, the 91热爆 score expectations are non-homogenous and they differ for different universities. The expectations of your preferred university should be clear before you plan your 91热爆 preparation regimen.

Once you know what is your predicted 91热爆 score, you can estimate which universities provide more scope for successful admissions and your university shortlisting can become more realistic.

How many months does it take to prepare for a 330 score?

The best metric to answer that question is your own present capability.

 • Take the free 91热爆 Score predictor test.
 • Find out your own deficiencies and strengths.
 • Plan ahead on how many months you might need to reach your target score.

If the score predictor test reveals that your present 91热爆 capability is quite high and is of about 320 level then obviously 330 can be reached within just a month or two.

If the test reveals that the current competency level is lower than 300 then 330 can take 4-5 months of time.

There is no right time to prepare for the 91热爆 exam. But the earlier you start the more options stay open to you. Not to mention that you save yourself a lot of hectic days before the deadline.

It is said that a work that has begun is already half done. The time to embark on the journey of your dreams has come.

Elite, prestigious, selective鈥hese are some of the adjectives associated with the eight of the top universities in the US. We are, of course, talking about the Ivy League colleges! Consistently ranked in the top 10 universities in the US and the top 20 worldwide, these schools are hallmarked for their selective admissions, high academic requirements, excellence in athletics, and a rich legacy of intellectual excellence.

Originally established as an intercollegiate athletics conference between eight universities in the Northeast USA, the Ivy League system has now come to be synonymous with pride, prestige and academic acumen.

Naturally, of course, these universities often make it to every aspirant鈥檚 college wish list and attract thousands of quality applicants from some of the most outstanding students in the world. So who are the eight members of the Ivy League? In no particular order, these are:

 1. Harvard University
 2. Yale University
 3. Dartmouth College
 4. Brown University
 5. University of Pennsylvania
 6. Cornell University
 7. Princeton University
 8. Columbia University

What鈥檚 the big deal about the Ivy League schools?

As we can see, this list doesn鈥檛 include some of the best universities in the US, such as Stanford, MIT, Caltech or Berkeley. While the Ivy League schools are now seen as the figureheads of excellence and prestige, they鈥檙e not the only place at which to get a top-tier education. So, what鈥檚 the fuss about the Ivy Leagues? While originally famed for their onus on athletics, the Ivy League colleges are now known for their generous endowments, excellence in R&D, state-of-the-art libraries and infrastructural facilities and a certain prestige that has now come to be associated with the colleges. While certainly, you can find these at many of the non-Ivies, what truly sets apart the Ivy League schools is, as a professor at Harvard pointed out, is the fact that the average student at, say, Harvard or Yale, will be usually more dedicated, ambitious and bright than the average student elsewhere. This kind of an atmosphere then automatically pushes you to work and perform better, and consequently, add to the academic caliber of the institution. Another aspect of the Ivy League is the focus on fostering diversity in the student body. By offering generous scholarships and endowments, the Ivy League colleges are dedicated to making high-quality secondary education accessible to people from historically disadvantaged strata of the society. A move that has been imitated by many other top-tier schools, this has helped the Ivy League colleges encourage and educate some of the best minds in the country (and the world).

What does it take to get into the Ivy League schools?

Taking into account the rich histories and legacies of these colleges, coupled with their repute for cutting-edge excellence in research and academics, it鈥檚 not difficult to see why so many higher studies aspirants would want to apply to these schools. A high number of applications, typically from outstanding students, means that the acceptance rates of these schools are usually quite low. Though the acceptance rates are invariably anywhere between 5-10%, it can be still lower for highly sought-after programs such as computer science. So, what can you, as an Ivy League aspirant, do to maximize your chances at an offer letter from Columbia or Penn? In other words, what are the admission requirements of these schools? Let鈥檚 take a look, shall we?

 1. GPA: While these colleges aren鈥檛 looking for a perfect 10 GPA, it goes without saying that a high GPA is paramount to your Ivy League dreams. Additionally, your relative performance matters too: generally, you are required to be in the top 10-15% of your class.
 2. 91热爆 and TOEFL scores: Again, though Ivy League schools don鈥檛 necessarily have a 91热爆 or TOEFL score cutoff, having a high score in these competitive exams can seriously help in improving your chances at an offer letter since it speaks of your technical and linguistic acumen.
 3. Extracurricular activities: Remember, these schools are looking for all-rounders, and this isn鈥檛 restricted to just the classroom. Sports, music, fine art or dance, a strong extracurricular profile sets you apart as a force to be reckoned with. It especially helps if your extracurricular activity exhibits a synergy of your academic and non-academic passions: for instance, if you鈥檙e applying for an MS in CS, it helps if you were, say, the captain of the programming team in college.
 4. Community service: After all, what good is a leader if he doesn鈥檛 give back to his community? Ivy League colleges are known for their thrust on community service and volunteering work, so any experiences working with the local pet shelter or teaching at the underprivileged girls鈥 school on weekends are likely to help bolster the quality of your application.
 5. Strong, reflective essays: your SOP is crucial to your admissions, but even more so in the case of the Ivy Leagues, which use your essays as a tool to gauge your commitment to your discipline, your preparedness for graduate school, and your achievements within and beyond the classroom.
 6. Prior research experience: Most fresh undergraduates have little to no research experience by the time they get out of college, so any and all such experience you may have had鈥攂e it a research internship or working as a research assistant with a faculty member鈥攚ill set you apart from your similarly qualified peers.
 7. Co-curricular activities: Sure, a high GPA is great, but that鈥檚 not the only thing it takes. Paper publications, participation in academic conferences and workshops, and internships will add invaluable weight to your application and portray you as a serious, committed candidate: something that is crucial to your Ivy League dreams.

Business Analytics could be explained as the repetitive and methodological investigation of any form of data relevant to a business, using statistics. These are imperative in data-driven businesses, whose greatest assets are their ever-growing data stockpiles, which could be exploited by business analysts for profit. Business analytics is used by these firms to make decisions based on data. Thus, a degree of MS in Business Analytics is recommended.

A Master鈥檚 in Business Analytics is extremely beneficial for Undergraduate students who aim to work in data-driven giants such as Google, Facebook, and LinkedIn as well as experienced personnel who want to further their career prospects to stay competitive in the face of rapidly morphing business strategies. Before getting admitted to the Master鈥檚 program in Business Analytics, you might be asked to undergo an video Interview process, apart from meeting general requirements like the 91热爆 and TOEFL/IELTS scores, and documents like LORs, your resume, and Statement of Purpose. Industries such as Finance, Technology, Marketing, and Retail have the highest scope for Business analysts.

Initially, interviews were a part of the admissions process for MBA programs, but are now extended to Master鈥檚 programs also. Interviews give you an opportunity to supplement your written applications by giving the admissions committee further information and reasons that demonstrate your suitability to the course by answering a series of questions asked by them. Interviews are your final opportunity to convince the admissions committee about 鈥榃hy you鈥檙e the best suit for their Master鈥檚 program鈥 by giving them a glimpse into your experience, projects, previous courses completed, and future aspirations.

How are these interviews conducted?

Different universities have different procedures but most of them conduct online video interviews. Let鈥檚 understand this through the interview procedure followed at the Imperial College of London.

 • First of all, the Imperial College London invites candidates for Interviews only after shortlisting, which means, if someone is invited for the Interview then their application has reached the final stage of the selection procedure.
 • For courses like an MSc in Business Analytics (Online, Part-time as well as Full-time), Management, Finance, and Financial technology, qualifying Interviews are certain for admission at most institutes.
 • According to the admissions committee, the Interviews lasts for about 20 minutes, in which the candidate might be required to deliver an elevator pitch for the questions asked.
 • The platform used by the Imperial College, London is called the 鈥楰ira Talent Online Interview Platform鈥. Do make sure that any email from Kira Talent doesn鈥檛 reach your Spam folder.
 • On the Online platform, there are a series of questions, which you need to answer as well as record a short video, both of which, you will have to submit them to the portal.

Word of Advice – The Kira Talent Online Interview Platform is a third party service provider, and hence you can familiarize yourself with the platform before reaching the testing hall.

 • The Video Interview questions will basically be regarding:
 1. The candidate鈥檚 goal statement (where an effective elevator pitch is recommended)
 2. How the coursework would help the candidate in achieving the goals he/she has.
 3. Why that particular business school is best suited for the candidate.
 • Some students get to give their Interviews using Skype as the video interview platform. In such cases, the candidate will be contacted by the admissions committee for giving them their Skype ID and to agree on a suitable time, and date for the video interview questions.
 • It is witnessed that students who gave Interviews for an MS in Business Analytics were asked personal questions similar to ones asked in MBA admissions. Questions such as 鈥楶ast failures and Personal experience in analytics鈥 are often featured on the list.

Video Interview Questions

The Video Interview questions would be testing a candidate鈥檚 Technical knowledge, Skills, behavior, and instincts. Given below, are some of the actual questions asked during interviews of the MIT Sloan School of Business and the Imperial College of London;

1. Compute the natural log of 00.00

Answer – Natural log means a logarithm of a number with the base as e (2.718…). And the natural logarithm is defined only for positive non zero numbers and hence natural logarithm of 0 is not defined.

2. Where is Big Data used in a firm?

Answer – Firms like Amazon, Google, Facebook, and Twitter has huge data pilestocks, which they have analyze time and then for a better customer experience. The treasure for these companies lies in the analysis of these data. They use Big Data and Business analytics to find different trends, requirements, and other opportunities for the company. The Business analysts use Big Data for storage and then use various analytics tools to get useful information from them.

3. Tell me an experience you had when you were the team member and nobody sided you for your decision.

Answer – In general any team or group, while structuring their plan or vision faces conflict among the team members. This kind of healthy conflicts, which are helpful for the company or team in the long run and this is how the inefficient solutions are rejected, creative ideas are formed. You can share any of your experience while your projects or Internships.

4. What you think will be the most challenging part of this master鈥檚 program?

Answer – If you are from a non computer Science background, then subjects based on R programming could be a bit difficult. Also, subjects based on Cloud platforms like the Amazon Web services could be difficult to understand.

5. If you are up for a salary hike or a promotion, explain to your senior authority as to why you think you are eligible for that.

Answer – To answer this question, you should be able to point out the highlights of your previous projects and what enhancements you鈥檝e done and how it affected the company. You can also point out some problems, which weren鈥檛 previously solved and how you solved them with your leadership skills.

6. What is the shape of a logarithmic curve – concave or concave?

Answer – The shape of a Logarithmic function is convex, as the opening mouth of the function always face downwards. It is close to the negative ordinate and as you go forward in the positive x-axis, it moves away from the positive ordinate but facing downwards, and hence convex.

7. How is this MSc best suited to your dreams?

Answer – Business Analytics is like meshing your technical and management skills into one, which is further strengthened by developing leadership qualities. If you want to become an analyst in big data driven companies and reach higher leadership positions where your decisions could impact the society, then this might be the best course in achieving your dreams.

8. Tell me a situation where you鈥檝e demonstrated your leadership skills.

Answer – Any leadership quality like, Decision making capabilities, Communication, creativity, or bringing a vision and passing it on to the lowest level of the firm effectively, which you鈥檝e exhibited during your projects, internships, or at work would answer this question.

9. Why should we offer you a place in our university?

Answer – The University you would be applying for should provide you the subjects and electives which inclines with your interests. Your profile matches the requirements of the universities and fee structure along the with the living expenses of the country is matching with your capabilities.

10. If you鈥檙e in a soccer team, what would your position be?

Answer – You could answer any position you want to be like defender, or the mid field player. But your answer should strengthen your abilities.

How to prepare for Video Interview Questions

1. For technical video interview questions, you have to prepare your subjects over time. This is not something for which you could develop or prepare in a week or so. If you鈥檙e really good in your subjects, then this round would be a cakewalk for you. If you鈥檙e not able to answer the question, it is better to be honest about it and answer what you can think of.

2. For Video essays based on a candidate鈥檚 behavioral traits or goals, a goal statement could be the most beneficial tool. The goal statement should always guide the candidate鈥檚 action. Goal statements should be prepared in the 鈥楽MART鈥 manner, should be accurately defined, and attainable. A Good Goal statement has the following features;

 • S 鈥 Specific
 • M 鈥 Measurable
 • A 鈥 Acceptable
 • R 鈥 Realistic
 • T 鈥 Time-bound

3. The goal statement should be particular, specific and should convey what the student would like to achieve or attain, while also being quantifiable or measurable, like the number of months devoted to developing a particular skill, or to attain one鈥檚 target score for a particular exam. It should be acceptable and realistic.

4. Once the goal statement for future years or goals are set, answering these personal questions becomes easier.

5. An elevator pitch is a necessity! 听An elevator pitch should have the following stages;

 • The first part of the elevator pitch is 鈥榃ho are you?鈥
 • The second part of the elevator pitch is 鈥榃hat do you do?鈥
 • The third part of the elevator pitch is 鈥榃hat makes you unique?鈥
 • The fourth and final part of the elevator pitch is 鈥楬ow do you do it?鈥

Remember that universities are looking for confident, motivated and dynamic young individuals who can take on the rigors of an MS program in business analytics! With a compelling interview or video essay, coupled with a strong elevator pitch, you have the opportunity to leave a lasting impression on the admissions committee and convince them that you鈥檙e just the kind of student they鈥檝e been looking out for!

]]>
Have you ever gone through a day at college or work and thought to yourself,听Wow, what a wonderful day!

I鈥檓 sure you have. It鈥檚 one of those days when you wake up as soon as the first alarm goes off, peacefully enjoy your breakfast, admire the scenery on the way to your college or office, reach on time and somehow find that the rest of the day carries on at the same pace.

I love those days. I keep reminding myself to do that every single day.

The differentiating factor between good days and 91热爆AT days is TIME!

You wake up as planned and you have enough TIME for yourself to do the things you NEED to have a good day at college or work.

Similarly, your 91热爆 and TOEFL preparation also NEEDS the time and space to develop into a smooth experience rather than a jerky last-minute affair that you regret undertaking.

The distinguishing factor in students who have a good score in 91热爆 and TOEFL, getting admitted into such top universities is the time they take in polishing their application.

While a 91热爆 and TOEFL score above 320 and 100+ respectively, can surely get you through the first round of the shortlisting process,听making it to the final stages requires a persuasive SOP and convincing LORs.

So, when should I take听91热爆 and TOEFL?

Scheduling your 91热爆 and TOEFL exam dates are similar to how you plan your morning commute college/work. You consider your destination first, calculate the time it takes to get there and then work back to the time you actually have to start.

Similarly, deciding on a 91热爆 and TOEFL dates are dependent on whether you are targeting the Fall or Spring admission seasons. Your destination here is the application deadlines for your target admission season and the time it would take to get the process ready.

If you are targeting admissions abroad, a typical admission timeline looks like this:

Ideal Time for 91热爆 and TOEFL

Ideal Time for 91热爆 and TOEFL

Alright, considering that you are looking at the general admission deadlines, let鈥檚 work back from that date to when it would be perfect for you to give 91热爆 and TOEFL.

Step #5: Applying to universities

Most universities have admission deadlines in the first or second week of December. It is necessary that you have your application ready at least three weeks before the deadline. This helps you stay ahead of the pack, especially with the first come-first serve admission procedures.

Step #4:听Finalize your college transcripts & documents

Getting your application ready-to-go is a tedious process. It involves collecting transcripts, tweaking your SOP and collecting your LORs. Some universities also ask you to provide additional documents such as a research agenda or a diversity essay. Create a checklist of all the necessary documents you are required to send to ensure you don’t miss out on anything!听

Step #3: Prepare your SOP & LOR

This is the most important and most time-consuming portion of your admission application, which is,听

 1. Statement of Purpose (SOP)
 2. Letter of Recommendation (LORs)

Your SOP: If you are applying to different universities with different programs, you MUST ensure you modify your SOP accordingly.

AdmitEdge听Pro Tip: Don’t make the mistake of sending out a generic common SOP. Admission officers are expert psychologists who review more than 10,000 applications every time. Your SOP must be genuine and unique to you. It should reflect your passion for the course and talk about your qualifications, your aspirations as well as your expectations from the university.

It takes most students an average of 2-3 weeks of research, consultations and edits before their SOP is ready to be sent out to universities.

Get your free eBook on “How to craft a great SOP?” written听by our admission experts. Download Now!

Your LORs: You must give your professors and employers enough time to write your LORs because it is a testament to your skills made by a third person. These letters are scrutinized by admission officers to see if you would be a good fit for their university and how YOU can add value to them. This is an additional nod from people you have worked with or under that you are capable of all that you claim to be.听

Read: Who should you get an LOR from?

Step #2: Research & Shortlist Universities

This is probably the most nerve-wracking part you’ll face, but it is only just the beginning of the battle. Considering that it takes nearly 2-2.5 months to produce a听perfect application, the ideal time to take 91热爆 isduring April-May.听

By the time you are ready to take your test, you must also shortlist 4 schools to whom you can send your 91热爆 scores as part of your ETS exam fee.

Step #1: Prepare for 91热爆 and TOEFL

By now you have guessed that the only thing remaining is to get started on your 91热爆 and TOEFL preparation!

With colleges starting their semester exams in May-June, it is advisable to wrap up your preparation, slightly ahead of time.

Consider giving your 91热爆 in by April-May and your TOEFL, 2 weeks after that. This will give you sufficient time to听prepare for 91热爆 and TOEFL thoroughly during February, March & April.

Just getting started with your university applications? Aware of the University Application Deadlines?

For most Indian students looking to pursue graduate studies abroad, applying for the fall intake makes the most sense as it makes allows for a seamless transition. With most under-graduate final semesters getting over by the months of May and June and the fall term starting in late August or early September, students have just enough time to get ready for a brand new life in a new country.

So does that mean that you can start your application process after you鈥檙e done with your final semester exams?

Not at all.

If you鈥檙e planning for Fall 鈥19 MS admits, you鈥檝e got to ensure that you have your application ready by November 2018, and dispatched well before the application deadlines!

This includes your 91热爆/TOEFL/IELTS score reports, academic transcripts, application form, Statement of Purpose, Letters of Recommendation (at least 3) and resume (in pdf format)

University Application Deadlines

Quite a few universities also have priority application听deadlines which generally precede the regular deadlines by a month or more.

Why are priority application deadlines important?

Applying by the priority deadlines makes you eligible to receive funding & scholarships that can really bring down the often exorbitant costs of studying abroad.

Applying by the early deadline also saves you money in other ways. At many universities, the application fee is significantly lower when one applies by the early application deadline!

Couple that with the sheer mental peace that not having to run around helter-skelter at the last moment provides, and starting your university applications early suddenly makes a whole lot of sense.

Today, let鈥檚 take a look at the universities that have their application deadlines in the months of November and December (well, mostly in December) so you know just when to send in your completed applications by!

Most of the Top 50 Universities have their application deadlines comparatively early-on, so if you鈥檙e an ambitious student or working professional, aspiring for prestigious admits, it makes all the more sense to prepare your application well in advance!

What you see above are just a few popular options that are available. There are many more options still out there that could be suitable for your profile. For an overview more US universities including 91热爆/TOEFL score requirements, deadlines and fees, download your 91热爆 cutoff eBook now!

So, let us now chalk out a plan to make the most of the Fall intake:

How To Meet These Application Deadlines?

This is your step-by-step guide to plan your application process:

#1: Ensure you take your 91热爆 and language exams (IELTS/TOEFL) soon

September-October is a good time to do so if you want to target the University Application deadlines from December, as you can report your score free of cost to up to 4 universities at the time of such exams. Use those options wisely to save time and money.

#2: Apply and arrange for your Transcripts, mark sheets and Degrees 听

Your transcripts are an official statement of marks issued by your university that have the attestation and stamp of your Controller of Examinations or Registrar. They must be in a signed and sealed envelope and it will be wise to apply and arrange for as many original copies as the number of universities you plan to apply to. These documents are different from the mark sheets you were issued when you graduated or passed each semester. You will need attested copies of your semester wise mark-sheets and degrees too. Often universities can take anywhere from a week to a month or even more to issue the transcripts. So, apply for them soon to have the documents with you in good time.

#3: Work on a master draft of your SOP

As time is of the essence, here is a hack to ensure you are well prepared for all the qualitative questions that the university application forms might ask. Prepare a strong master draft of your Statement of Purpose covering your academics, work experience, projects, achievements, career objectives and purpose of applying for your masters etc. This is a time-consuming process. With this document ready, you can borrow from this to trim and form an SOP that will meet the university鈥檚 requirements (word limits and some specific essay questions)

#4: Finalize your choice of universities

If you already have your scores with you, this could be a good starting point for your plans. You can shortlist 6-8 universities that suit your profile and background after studying their courses, application deadlines, admission requirements and past admit trends. This requires extensive research as the options are many. It is not just a question of choosing based on ranks, you also need to look for options where you have a good chance of making a cut.

Apart from self-research, it will help to speak to your seniors, well-wishers, and relatives abroad. There are also dedicated groups and pages on social media that discuss popular universities abroad.

With your college graduation day inching closer, you might find yourself flooded with advice from all quarters about what to do next!

Couple that with the academic stress associated with exams, and 听it may feel like it is too much to process at once, and you鈥檙e probably right in feeling that way.

That鈥檚 why, I鈥檇 like you to know the key secrets for a successful and hassle-free application to pursue your MS in the US.

Well, to be honest, it鈥檚 not really a secret, but more of a smart game plan for your college admissions.

The key is to start early

Why do that? Because preparation is what separates brilliance from mediocrity. If you initiate your efforts early, time-consuming issues like financial planning, writing a compelling SOP, updating your CV, applying for scholarships and convincing your parents that you are doing the right thing for your education will not feel so scary and hectic anymore.

So, why exactly will you benefit from starting early?

1) Shortlisting universities can be a time consuming process!

The United States boasts of one of the world鈥檚 finest university systems and is home to over 4,000 colleges and universities. With so many alternatives, you need to be certain that you choose the best US college for your Masters. It is recommended that you search for, identify, learn more about and apply to schools that are the best fits for your profile and future plans.

But even the simplest step of identifying relevant US colleges can get complicated if you postpone it for too long. Name recognition and reputation are important when selecting universities, but there are other aspects you should also consider.

For instance, you might want to check the variety of the programs on offer, the courses you are going to study, the professors鈥 style of teaching, campus facilities, and the local culture and environment. These things can take time and I鈥檓 sure you want to get them right.

See how ready is your profile for a Top MS Admit with a 4 minutes Quiz. Take the Admission awareness evaluation here>>听听

2) Fixing an admissions timeline:

After identifying the US colleges that best suit your educational needs and expectations, you will need to start your research regarding the admission process. This is where it usually gets confusing for most future students. But it doesn鈥檛 necessarily have to be the same way for you!

Here鈥檚 a sneak peek of what your 91热爆 and admissions timeline should ideally look like:

You will have to submit an application to each of the institutions you are interested in; they will usually ask you to write an SoP and to provide them with letters of recommendation. In order to complete all the requirements to a high standard and meet the deadlines, you need to start planning ahead. It鈥檚 highly recommended that you make a calendar of deadlines to track what you need to do and at what time!

Typically, MS applications in the US for the fall intake are due between November and January, and it鈥檚 important that that you initiate your efforts at least a year in advance. You also need to be informed about the fees you will need to pay during the process. Usually, the fee for each application is between $50 and $100 (Rs. 3400 – Rs. 6800) as per the prevailing exchange rate.fac

3) You鈥檒l get sufficient time to write your SoP:

Your SoP is one of the most crucial components of your university application! Your SOP should contain information about the following:

 • Who you are as a person, your aspirations, why you want to study the course you鈥檙e applying for and at that university!
 • It should also talk about your future plans after completing your education and the ways in which you can contribute to the university.
 • What you know about the student community of the university and how you can be a perfect fit for the kind of student profile they are looking for.

For each intake, top US universities receive tens of thousands of applications! An admit winning SoP is one that makes your application stand out from the rest. Universities get a huge number of applications from students with similar 91热爆 / TOEFL scores and academic backgrounds. It鈥檚 the strength of the SoP that eventually can make or break a student鈥檚 acceptance chances, all other factors being equal.

Get your free eBook on “How to craft a great SOP?” written by our admission experts. Download Now!

4) Financial planning for your education, procuring LORs and Academic Transcripts!

Studying abroad can be a pretty expensive affair, and many students take education loans to fund their tuition/living expenses. However, 听the time a loan takes to get sanctioned depends on several factors like the amount, your credit score, the lending organization and more!

As a part of the admissions process, you will need to show proof of funds to support yourself financially and apply for your visa.

Letters of Recommendation: Apart from your SOP, if there is something that the admissions council needs to know a little more about you, it is your Letter of Recommendation! Most universities mandate a minimum of 2 LORs to be submitted! However, here鈥檚 why you keeping time aside for your LORs can be highly rewarding.

Now here鈥檚 the deal – when you鈥檙e short of time, you鈥檒l probably only have time to procure 2 LORs, in keeping with the requirements. When you have time in hand, you can shortlist 10-12 potential referees whom you have worked closely with (university professors, deans, heads of department or your immediate superior if you have prior work experience) and choose the best from among them, to give an edge to your application!

Procuring your academic transcripts such as a consolidated marksheet from your school/college might also take as long as a few weeks to months, depending on the institution, for example, procuring marksheets from Anna university usually takes just a week, whereas Mumbai university takes 3-4 weeks or more! (subject to change, time-frame provided for reference only). Try and check with your university in advance and find out how long they鈥檒l need to give you the requisite documents.

Although you won鈥檛 be able to apply for the visa until you have actually been accepted by a US college, it鈥檚 still best to get informed and well-prepared as early as possible, to avoid any last-minute rush or panic!

5) 听Of priority deadlines, scholarships and early decisions:

Good things come to those who wait – but not when it comes to university applications! The coveted goodies (read: scholarships, financial aid, acceptance letters) are usually taken away by the early birds!

Many universities have priority deadlines for submission of applications which precede the general deadlines by 3-4 months, Unfortunately, many students who wait end up missing the priority application deadline, which means they鈥檙e at a disadvantage when it comes to receiving scholarships and financial aid.

Early decisions: I know. I know. Yet another paragraph on a topic that has already been done to death. However, depending on the university you are applying to, the acceptance rate of early decision applicants is likely to be significantly higher than that of regular applicants!

What鈥檚 more, even in the unfortunate event of your application being denied, you still have time to apply to any other universities under regular decision!

The post MS in US: Top 10 States For International Students appeared first on 91热爆 Blog.

]]>
When it comes to studying abroad, US is one of the first destinations that pops up in any discussion.

Hailed as the land of opportunities, it is a hot favourite among students mainly because of three things:

 1. Variety of universities available (approx. 4000 universities)
 2. Globally competitive research programs
 3. Infrastructure & job opportunities.

In fact, according to QS World University Rankings, 30 of the Top 100 Universities in the world are in the US.

Compared to any other country, US has the maximum number of enrolled international students for courses related to Engineering, Math and Computer Science and also Business and Management. It is even believed that every 6th international student in the US is an Indian*.

But with 50 states, 13 time zones, and a variety of opportunities, the one question that every MS aspirant asks themselves is:

Which US State is best for my MS?

[Read: Top 10 Cities For MS in US]

Let us take a step closer and find out more about the popular destinations to study within the US.

This is the map of USA

If we were to divide the states into 3 regions (west, central and east), we can list them as follows:

East: Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, 听Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine.

If you were to draw a line through the center of the USA, you will find that the states to the North have harsher weather, while those to the South have weather conditions that are more similar to the Indian Subcontinent.

Though every state offers opportunities in almost all industries now, the East Coast has a lot of service and management related opportunities while the west is known as an IT hub, and the Central area is known for its manufacturing and automobile industries.

The post Fall 2018: 10 Great Universities You Can STILL Apply to! appeared first on 91热爆 Blog.

]]>
If you are planning to pursue graduate studies abroad, it is not too late yet to follow your dreams for Fall 2018! The thumb rule is to prepare in time and apply early, but there are universities with their deadlines coming up between January and March, some deadlines are as far away as June. No! they are not all un-ranked or unheard of institutes. Just like you don’t judge a book by its cover, don’t judge a university by its deadline. Read on to know more about how you can still plan for Fall 2018.

Firstly, let us address the ‘apply early’ dictum.

As it is with all things, it is always wise to plan your application process early. It helps to get your documents ready in time and to apply a little before the deadline. This helps gain time to tackle any eventualities and keep your mind tension-free. There are quite a few steps that go into this process, starting from your 91热爆/TOEFL/IELTS/GMAT preparations to filing your online application. This is why it is recommended to get going early.

Further, a few universities have a scholarship or financial deadline, which usually falls around mid-November or December. Understandably, many of us would want to target that deadline and so we prepare early.

But here are a few revelations that are hidden between these lines.

Did you know?

 • 听听听听听听听听Only a few top universities have their deadlines in the period of November鈥揇ecember
 • 听听听听听听听听You can try for scholarships and financial aid even after you get admitted into the university
 • 听听听听听听听听There are universities that have ‘rolling admissions’
 • 听听听听听听听听There are many known universities in the US with deadlines in the period from January to March
 • 听听听听听听听听Some universities in the US have their deadlines in the month of June too
 • 听听听听听听听听Early deadlines do not mean early decisions! 听听
 • 听听听听听听听听The final deadline for some coveted universities are yet to pass

So, the good news is: You don’t have to wait for Spring’19 or Fall’19 to get going! You can start today. But first, you need to shatter the myth that only the bottom-tier universities have late deadlines in the months ahead.

Have a look at this table to review some options that are still on the table:

Excited to apply to these universities and more?
Get expert guidance to complete your applications before deadlines CLOSE!

What you see above are just a few popular options that are available. There are many more options still out there that could be suitable for your profile. So let us chalk out a plan to make the most of this admission season.

How Can You Plan to Meet These Late Deadlines?

#1: Ensure you give your 91热爆/GMAT and language exams soon.

January鈥揊ebruary is a good time to do so if you want to target the deadlines from mid-February. As you can report your score free of cost to some universities at the time of such exams. Use those options wisely to save time.

#2: Apply and arrange for your transcripts, mark sheets, and degrees.听听

Your transcripts are an official statement of marks issued by your university that have the attestation and stamp of your Controller of Examinations or Registrar. They must be in a signed and sealed envelope and it will be wise to apply and arrange for as many original copies as the number of universities you plan to apply to. These documents are different from the mark sheets you were issued when you graduated or passed each semester. You will need attested copies of your semester-wise mark sheets and degrees too. Often universities can take anywhere from a week to a month or even more to issue the transcripts. So, apply for them soon to have the documents with you in good time.

#3: Work on a master draft of your SOP.

As time is of essence, here is a hack to ensure you are well prepared for all the qualitative questions that the university application forms might ask. Prepare a strong master draft of your Statement of Purpose covering your academics, work experience, projects, achievements, career objectives, and purpose of applying for your masters. This is a time-consuming process. With this document ready, you can borrow from this to trim and form an SOP that will meet the university’s requirements (word limits and some specific essay questions).

#4: Finalize your choice of universities.

If you already have your scores with you, this could be a good starting point for your plans. You can shortlist 6鈥8 universities that suit your profile and background after studying their courses, deadlines, admission requirements, and past admit trends.

#5: Fill in and submit the online application form.

Once you know your options. You are done with the biggest part of your applications. The final step is to actually fill in and submit your application form. This step requires a lot of care and precision. Be sure of what you enter and review your form at least two or three times before submitting. Do check if you have uploaded the right documents. It is advisable to finish the online application process a few days before the final deadline.

#6: Report your official scores and dispatch the documents packet.听

The final leg of your application process is the official score reporting and couriering your documents, such as transcripts and degree (if the university asks for them). Be sure to use the right university and/or department codes while you are reporting your scores. Another point to note is that it is advisable to mention the reference number generated after the submission of the online application on your documents packet to ensure it is added to your application file quickly. 听

Every step is important and needs to be completed with utmost care and precision. But some planning and hard work can surely see you through this multi-step process.

There may have been many reasons that delayed your plans or you might have just recently decided to apply abroad. Whatever be the reason, there is no need to hold back and wait for the next admission season when you have options to do them right now too!

So, it is time to get started and with a positive attitude, some hard work, and the right guidance you can definitely make it to a world-class graduate program this season itself.

Comment below and let us know if you have any questions. We’ll be happy to answer them all! 馃檪

The post MIS vs. Data Science 鈥 What’s the Right Choice? appeared first on 91热爆 Blog.

]]>
The journey to your dream university starts with the question:

鈥榃hy do you want to pursue your graduate studies?鈥

Some of us want to do an MS to take our UG studies forward (say after BTech in Computer Science, one could go on to pursue an MS in CS). Others want to change their field and cross over to an entirely new field of study (for example, moving from BSc Physics to a program in Law).

Then there are those who want to pursue more streamlined and often inter-disciplinary programs (like from BTech in Mechanical Engineering to MS in Automobile Engineering). These programs offer interesting and unique concentrations and specializations, and are fast gaining popularity among those planning their graduate studies abroad.

MS in Management of Information Systems (MIS) and MS in Data Science (DS) are two such streamlined programs. These programs cater to specific academic interests and career goals among students of engineering and/or management. They sound similar and have some common ground between them.

Read on to know more about these interesting courses offered abroad and which one is best suited for you.

About MS in MIS

MS in MIS is a course designed to train you in the employment of computer-related technology in business functions. You may have heard from your friends and well-wishers that this is a course that is somewhere in between an MS and an MBA. In a way that is true, but that description does not do complete justice to the intensity and uniqueness of the program.

The core objective of this interdisciplinary course is to catapult you into managerial positions mainly in the field of IT. You will learn to use web technology and computerized information systems to solve business problems and maximize the output of business processes.

A glance at some of the popular technical and managerial courses covered by this program will shed light on how this course is designed:

There is no uniform curriculum for this program. So, some universities offer courses that focus more on the technical subjects, implying that they are suitable for students who are from the IT background seeking to step into managerial roles, while other courses focus on the managerial aspect and target business professionals who seek to specialize in IT.

In fact, depending on the composition of the curriculum, you have more courses that are different amalgamates of management and engineering courses. They include:

 • MSTM MS in Technology Management
 • MSIS MS in Information Systems

About MS in Data Science

MS in Data Science is another popular program which is a relatively recent addition to the list of courses offered by universities abroad. This course is the result of universities adapting their programs to the industry鈥檚 demand for more Data Scientists and 鈥楤ig Data鈥 Specialists.
